Snake Bite E-mail
Wednesday, 28 March 2007
Today I learned the importance of feeding tongs. Plissken bit me while trying to feed her... TWICE! Sorry, I don't have video of this one. I didn't expect it. Besides, you know how you're not supposed to jerk when bitten because you might break off the snake's teeth? Well, I think that jerking is an uncontrollable action when bitten and I doubt I would have been able to get a good shot of what was happening. It hurt more than I'd expected. I wasn't scared necessarily, I was more startled than anything... and when something is hurting you, your natural reaction is to pull away from it. The teeth are so small that it wasn't as bad as a paper cut. In fact, it might have been smaller than a razor cut. Although blood was drawn, the wounds practically didn't hurt at all a few hours later. I was mostly concerned about getting an infection from the puncture wounds. Hey, it was my first time, what can I say. I'd actually say that getting bitten twice is not bad, considering the way I've been feeding the snake for over a year now.
